After last year’s flood and other issues, a Garden Steering Committee formed in late March to try to bring life back to the concept of Community Gardens in Cedar Falls for 2017. Initial members include John Smith, Deb Gallagher, Mary Jo Loveland, Christine Williams and Lytishya Borglum. Please let us know if you would be interested in being part of the committee.
Several Committee members cleared all the garden debris and flood debris left at the end of the 2016 season and the City of Cedar Falls stepped up to help us haul it away.
Registration Open
The Community Gardens will be tilled by the City of Cedar Falls sometime in the next week or two and plot registration is now open on this website. We’ll notify gardeners by email when their garden plots are ready to be planted. Our target date for opening is May 1st.
New Garden rules have been developed to help make the gardens more enjoyable for those looking to raise vegetables and flowers for their families. Please read these carefully. When you register and pay for your plot, you are agreeing to follow the rules.
The plot fee as been lowered this year and all gardeners are expected to follow the rules and help keep the gardens looking nice.
This year, plots will be assigned starting at the east end and moving west as registrations come in. Unrented plots will be planted with rye grass and kept mowed.
Any questions, email us at gardener@cfcommunitygardens.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Spring is here!!
